#5 - undone; process/critique/log — ni~ya & sakito

what can i say. some more nisaki. this scene's supposed to be taking place during a funeral, so hence the black tie attire. 8B it was also obscenely fun looking for this shit.

anyway, not sure who to put in the background. a part of me wants to put a bit of ni~ya's family on ni~ya's side and methinks...yomi and hitsugi with sakito? (not that saki doesn't have a family, but from what i've gathered, he and his family aren't very close.)

but yeah, as always, opened to critique. [08.12.2009]

#4 - la belle sans merci; process/critique/log — ruka & karyu

oh. god. i feel actually embarrassed about this pic. mostly because i really love this scene and i feel am not doing it justice. PLEASE TELL ME SO. ; A ; i think i will finish this one for the sake of how far it's coming along, and then just do another one for amna that's more dynamic and involves ruka thrashing and groaning and karyu holding tightly.

okay, random line's an eraser shaving. also, god, scanner. then again, i blame myself because shit, ruka's right eye looks so bad, i don't know what the fuck to do and ffs. well, except make it darker of course, but that'll come in due time. you know, if i don't absolutely hate it. 8< [oh.god.idk.]

oh lord, it's finally done. i had such ambivalent feelings towards it, i put it down for a few weeks. and subsequently all other projects. that and subeta's getting to be my worse thing ever. anyway. the finished one.

well, at least ruka doesn't look like he has down syndrome, thank fucking god. :[ idk, i wish this had came out a lot more dynamic, buuuuuuuuut. idk. i don't specialise in dynamic. i swear, i'll revisit this, i feel like i didn't do this scene justice at all. i mean, yes, i wanted it to be more sudden and surprised, like the moment between ruka getting bitten and before his brain registers that he's bit, somewhere in that tiny nanosecond of a time frame. ergh. :|

orz sorry, amna. [08.12.2009]

#3 - undone; process/critique/log — ni~yaxsakito

this one's going to be a mite harder to do. mostly because they're plenty of kissing couples, and intertwined couples, but not a whole lot of rough sex references. :| ah well, i'll make it up as i go along. i am not going to find rape references, no way.

continuing, so yes, one out of two pieces for the exact same scene. well. okay, same time frame. one's where you just see baba ontop of saki, the one you see now saki baba-slammed into a wall. GOD I NEED SOME SERIOUS CRITIQUE ON THIS SHIT BECAUSE I DID TRY AT DRAWING THE BACKGROUND (hurr angled wall) and...fkewg;;; baw my neck. help prz. ♥

and no, 'i don't draw' isn't a good excuse; i've actually gotten some interesting critique from people who can't make a straight line |D; people can see what is and isn't wrong from recalling real life.

#2 - la belle sans merci; process/critique/log — ni~yaxsakito

alright, another. this time a sequential. now, sequentials are a pain in the ass. for the record, sequential is just a technical (read: art student/professor/school) way of saying comic pages. there you go. anyway, this time, unlike my last half-assed 'sequential' this is a more technical example with panelling, change in scene, action and story telling. only difference is there won't be any speech bubbles (i will have a nice sound effect though; whether or not it will be in english or moonspeak, i haven't decided; i like the aesthetic appeal of japanese onomatopoeia, but american tends to look more dynamic [again, given the fact this is a slap and not a punch, i'm thinking simpler would work. it'd have more of an impact.]) anyway.

yes, it will be read from right to left. it's mostly due to sakito being right-handed (if i'm not entirely mistaken, i could totally be wrong) and it'd work with the flow of his slap (slapping with the right hand and moving onto the left as the action goes.) i hate how i break my art down to a science, it's so preachy. [17.11.2009]

alright, so just. going a bit further. again, having second thoughts on his pose (back-handing seems a tad bitchier, but i'm not sure how his balance would work. ;B;) [19.11.2009]

okay, so the hand could be done better. looking at baba in the top left panel, i think he should be further back or saki needs to be closer to the front to emphasize sudden distance/a shove. god, can i stop getting a boner for saki in a vest, unf. really, no better comments here other than goddamn that slapping hand is really distracting me. i'm seriously thinking about him backhanding baba because it seems just so damn bitchy. and saki's pretty bitchy. #1 - la belle sans merci; process/critique/log — ni~ya

alright, so let's get started. you don't give a shit about who i am, which is a-okay, i don't want you to. i just want to showcase how i do things, let people see how far along some projects are so they don't feel the need to pester me. and so, you know, i have a decent reputation and proof that i am being a productive shit.

alright, first scene in question (there's going to be about...four new posts here, chill:) chapter eighteen, ni~ya looking out the window in simple hakama and looking rather pleasant.

looking at the pose now, i'm beginning to have second thoughts on it. the problem is with art being a visual art, hypotheses don't exactly work; you have to see for yourself. and posemaniacs making me see for myself. so i will probably sketch both poses, scan, and let my good friend compare the two. [17-23-2009]

so i decided on the other post courtesy of posemaniacs. unf. ilu posemaniacs. you make me draw good hand and posture and unf. unf unf unf. ♥♥♥ ilu.

anyway. yeah, i'm going further on it. |D; i want to keep ni~ya muse. he's very nice to me and super cooperative. i just promise him booze. but seriously, ni~ya's a cooperative specimen, strangely. so i was very elated to draw him and how well it was coming out. so yes, go ahead, comment; i like critique. i feed on it ♥ [19-11-2009]

ergh, only reason i hate blogger is moving the pictures around. it's weird; you put the cursor where you want it and all the pictures go back up. even in html. ah well.

baballama. rofl, lookit dem baaad feet. no but seriously, out of all of them, i like this one. i know, stupid that i like such a static post but damn, ni~ya was such a lovely specimen in this. unlike undone, where his lips wouldn't function properly. i think he likes being drawn all full-body, i guess. but yeah, i think that's another reason i like this one since i rarely draw full-body pieces, so it was refreshing being able to draw...well, a dude. without him looking all girlish and shit. because ni~ya's a man. but really and truly, irl, the feet are not so bad. i'm actually proud of myself because thanks to posemaniacs (oh god, best art site yet. ilit.) okay, the left (his right's) actually a bit gnarly, but eh. i like his right (his left) foot so much, unf. also, the pleats are kinda fun. ♥

so yeah, i am trying so hard to avoid working on this one and it ain't working. THE STONES. O GOD, THE FUCKING STONES. I NEED AN ACTUAL RULER AND NOT A METRESTICK. but yeah. also shading twilight was fun. so pretty. wish i could've put in a few stars but then it would've been more dusk and not quite twilight. pip pip cheerio // FAQ

this is going to be jesi's sketchblog :B i intended my eljay to be one, but that's just where i baw and talk about my life. none of that here.

let's answer some questions:

1) where am i/what's a sketchblog/what the hell, woman?
this is my sketchblog. a sketchblog is what it sounds like: a blog for sketches and drawings. i figured i should have a record of proof that i do shit and do not laze about, contrary to popular belief. maybe in the future i'll post videos and speedpaints to show how i do things visually instead of with different pictures for different days.

2) so who's all this art for?
my friends, myself, gifts for people i admire, really. sometimes you'll see school projects.

3) will you post any tutorials in the future?
perhaps. it depends on what's asked and what's wanted.

4) what references do you use?
posemaniacs, weheartit, deviantart, fotosearch, flickr.

5) can i use your art for anything? do you do trades/commissions/requests?
i don't mind necessarily (as long with proper credit) but this is technically for friends. i don't really do requests well (unless they're art trades, and even then, that's usually for friends.) commissions, i'm more inclined to because i get paid and i fancy having money.
